The Day Death Lost

The Power of the Resurrection

On Good Friday, the focus is on the sacrifice of Jesus, His body broken and His blood poured out. It’s a powerful reminder of what He endured and why it matters. But the story doesn’t end at the cross. The resurrection changes everything.

As Matthew 28:5 declares, Jesus is not in the grave. He has risen. That truth is the foundation of our faith and the reason we have hope today.

The resurrection proves something extraordinary. It confirms that Jesus is truly the Son of God. Many have lived, taught, and died, but only Jesus rose from the dead and lives forever. This single event gives credibility to everything He said. When Jesus predicted His death and resurrection, and then fulfilled it, it validated His words, His identity, and His authority.

It also reveals the core of the gospel. Faith is not just believing that Jesus existed. It is believing that He died and rose again. Without the resurrection, faith would be empty. But because He lives, salvation is real and available to all who believe.

The resurrection also means victory. Through it, Jesus overcame Satan, sin, death, and the grave. What once held power no longer has the final say. Because He was sinless, the enemy had no claim over Him, and His victory broke that power completely. Now, those who follow Him are no longer bound by sin or defined by fear.

But this victory is not just something to celebrate. It is something to live in. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in believers today. That means we are not meant to live defeated or powerless. We are called to live with purpose, confidence, and boldness, knowing that God’s power is active in our lives.

Finally, the resurrection gives us true hope. Not just for today, but for eternity. Jesus said He is the resurrection and the life, and because He lives, we will live also. This hope changes how we face life, loss, and the future. It reminds us that death is not the end, and that there is more beyond what we see.

The resurrection is more than a moment in history. It is the greatest victory ever won, and it still has the power to transform lives today.
