What Does it Mean to Get Saved?
What does it mean to get saved? Getting saved means that you have made a decision to make Jesus the Lord of your life. That you believe He is the Son of God. Many people make getting saved or becoming a Christian a very complicated thing. The Bible teaches us that to get saved the requirements are as follows:
Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The requirements are to confess and believe. Jesus did everything on the cross so that all we have to do is believe that Jesus died and rose again and that He is the son of God and we will be saved.
Many people believe that there are a lot of requirements needed to be saved. An example would be that you need to first get baptized before you can be saved. If that was the case, then how is it possible that when Jesus was on the cross, He told the thief hanging on a cross next to him that “today you will be with me in paradise?” All he did was sincerely believe.
The beautiful thing about being saved is the fact that once we believe, no matter where we are at in life, this is the moment our walk with God begins. Then we start following it up with the things the Bible instructs us to do, for example, baptism.
Grace comes to us when we get saved. That is called justification. All the things that proceed after that are called sanctification. That is living out our salvation, practically every day, by being obedient to the Word of God.
Isn’t the grace of God just one of the most amazing gifts given to man?
