The Nations of the Unseen Realm
The Nations and the Unseen Realm: A Battle Beyond What We See
The Unseen Realm, Part 7 | Pastor Alex Pappas
What if the battles we see taking place in the world are connected to something happening in the unseen realm?
Throughout Scripture, we discover that the natural world is affected by spiritual realities. From the Garden of Eden to the Tower of Babel, humanity has repeatedly chosen rebellion over obedience to God. But the Bible reveals that there is more happening behind the scenes than we may realize.
When Heaven Responds to Prayer
In Daniel chapter 10, we find Daniel desperately seeking God concerning the captivity of Israel. He studied the Scriptures, humbled himself, and prayed for understanding of God’s will.
After 21 days, an angel appeared with an extraordinary revelation.
Daniel 10:12 says, “From the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard.”
God had heard Daniel from the very first day! Yet the angel explained that the prince of Persia had resisted him for 21 days until Michael came to help.
While Daniel was praying on earth, a spiritual conflict was taking place in the unseen realm.
Notice something important about Daniel’s prayers. He wasn’t simply asking God to fulfill his personal desires. He was seeking to understand and pray according to God’s Word.
What would happen if we approached prayer with that same heart?
God’s Purpose for the Nations
Following the flood, God instructed Noah and his descendants to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. Yet in Genesis 11, humanity gathered at Babel, determined to establish its own name and kingdom rather than follow God’s instructions.
God responded by confusing their language and scattering them throughout the earth.
Deuteronomy 32:8–9 offers another fascinating perspective. While some translations describe the division of nations according to the children of Israel, other ancient textual traditions reference the “sons of God” or “angels of God.”
This raises the possibility of a connection between heavenly beings and earthly nations, much like the spiritual princes described in Daniel.
Yet God’s ultimate purpose was never abandoned.
In Genesis 12, God called Abraham and promised that through him, all the families of the earth would be blessed. Through Israel would come Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
Even in humanity’s repeated rebellion, God continued revealing His mercy, grace, and plan of redemption.
Choosing God’s Will Over Our Own
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual powers and forces of wickedness.
There is a spiritual battle taking place, and one of the enemy’s greatest objectives is to lead us away from God’s will and into rebellion.
But as believers, we have something extraordinary: the Holy Spirit living within us.
We are not called to chase after spiritual battles or live in fear. We are called to follow Jesus’ example of complete surrender to the Father.
The question is whether we will choose God’s way when the world pressures us to do otherwise.
Will we seek His will in our families, marriages, businesses, finances, and everyday decisions?
1 Samuel 15:22 reminds us that obedience is better than sacrifice. But true obedience should flow from a heart that loves God, not merely from a desire to follow rules.
God is good, merciful, loving, and faithful. His ways are always worth following.
The greatest response to the unseen battle is a heart fully surrendered to God.
May we become a generation that seeks His Word, recognizes His purposes, and boldly declares, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”
