Does God Hear Our Prayers?
Prayer is a wonderful and powerful instrument available for us to communicate with God at any given moment in time. It is truly wonderful to think that the Creator of the universe loves it when we pray and spend time with Him.
Jeremiah 29:11–12 (NKJV)
11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
It is incredible to think that God wants man to have a conversation with Him. We have to ask ourselves the question though, what moves God to hear our prayers and what are some real effective prayers that we can pray?
Personally, I believe that God is relational and that He loves it when we just talk to Him in a very simplistic, real way, like you would talk to a friend. At the same time, I do believe, that if we want to see our prayers produce great results, we do need to get in tune with God’s heart, and through close relationship see what God responds to most.
One of the most powerful and constructive ways to praying, is to align our prayers with the will of God. In fact, the bible tells us that if we pray according to God’s will, we can be assured that He hears us. I don’t know about you, but one of my greatest desires in life is to love God with all my heart and to do His will. Jesus taught His disciples, in the Lord’s prayer to pray “Your kingdom come. Your will be done”. The bible also says the following.
1 John 5:14 (NKJV)
14Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
If we walk with God and align our prayers with God’s word, His word becomes part of how we live our lives and make decisions, this in turn leads to a live filled with peace and joy. The bible goes on to say that He not only hears our prayers but also answer them. This is so reassuring and encouraging.
John 15:7 (NKJV)
7If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
The above are just a few basic pointers on a few factors that lead to effective prayer.
I honestly believe that God wants to hear and answer all our prayers, I have also seen God respond very powerfully to a person that truly has a desire to seek Him. A person that desires to have a close relationship with Him. If you are reading this article today and you feel that you might be seeking a deeper relationship with God, I want you to know that the bible promises that He will respond to you.
Matthew 7:7 (NKJV)
7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
If we seek God, we will find Him. Make a decision today, to seek Him more, and rest assure that He will be waiting to hear and answer you.
